Certifying Bodies carry out the assessment of Biogas plants applying for certification. Only two organisations have been appointed by REAL to carry out this work:
Both organisations have had previous experience in the pilot schemes for the PAS110 and can certify plants in England, Wales and Scotland. Both are accredited by UKAS as CBs and in addition are undergoing the process of gaining further accreditation from UKAS for the specific Biofertiliser Certification Scheme in England & Wales and Scotland. When the CBs have successfully completed their accreditation, the certificate that is awarded to the AD Plant will also be fully accredited and will therefore achieve the maximum credibility with users of the Quality Digestate and food buyers.
No other CB is permitted to carry out assessments under the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme. This is to ensure that only the highest quality service is provided by properly trained and prepared organisations and that the Scheme achieves credibility and trust from the start of its operations.
