Requesting Scheme Data
REAL maintains an extensive database, covering parameters such as process meta-data, technical specifications, and test report data for the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme. We welcome requests from individuals and organisations to access this data for research or projects that offer a demonstrable benefit to the industry.
To initiate the data sharing procedure, please complete the Data Request Form (hyperlinked). All requests must be submitted using this document to ensure that specific dataset requirements and the intended purpose of the study are clearly defined.
Procedures and Confidentiality
A formal data sharing agreement is usually required before any information is released. This ensures that data is handled appropriately and used only for the stated project. All datasets are strictly processed to ensure they are fully anonymised, meaning no individual process or operator can be identified from the information provided and that there is suitability justification for each parameter of data requested. Please note that standard requests are subject to a fee, and those requiring complex additional processing will incur a higher charge.
Prior to making a data request please read the BCS’ full data sharing policy here REAL BCS Data Sharing Policy 2023 V3 .
Note 1: All datasets supplied may be retained and used for up to two years from the date it is provided, or until the agreed purpose has been completed, whichever occurs first. Once this period has elapsed, the dataset must be securely deleted.
Note 2: Regarding requests for market supply data, requestors should be aware that horticulture was added as an option for supplied markets for BCS digestate in October 2025. Due to this transition, supply records may not yet fully reflect horticultural use, and full coverage cannot be guaranteed until November 2026.
